Jason joined the Barak London team on the 1st of February 2018 to focus on Energy deal origination as well as advising on a number of Metals related transactions. He has 15 years of experience in the commodities and banking industry. Most recently he was a Partner and the Head of Africa and Middle-East for Energy & Metals at Engelhart Commodity Trading Partners (ECTP) based in London. At ECTP he led a variety of upstream and downstream oil and gas finance transactions as well as metals and mining finance. Jason previously worked at Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Macquarie and UBS as a structurer, originator and trader.
At UBS, Jason helped set up the Commodity Index Business, developing custom indices for wealth management and institutional clients, such as the UBS CMCI index, UBS Emissions Index and the joint venture between UBS and Jim Rogers. At Macquarie, Jason developed the cross-commodity business and set up the Forestry Products trading desk. At JP Morgan, he was involved in developing the cross-commodity structuring and origination effort working on transactions in Africa and the Middle East. At Deutsche Bank, he was responsible for developing fundamentally driven derivative transactions prior to setting up a desk focusing on transactions with physical traders, focusing on origination, trading, structuring, financing and hedging.
