Prasert Tapaneeyangkul's entire career of 37 years was spent in many departments within the Thai Ministry of Industry. The last 3 positions before retirement were the Deputy Director-General of Department of Industrial Works, the Inspector-General and the Secretary-General of the Cane and Sugar Cane Board respectively. Duties and responsibilities covered from the investigation and administration of industrial pollution, hazardous substance/waste, safety and risk management in factories. One of his expertise is legal knowledge in Factory Act, Hazardous Substance Act, Building Control Act, Environmental Law and Occupational Health and Safety Law, inclusive of Civil and Criminal Codes.
