Alex leads Emerald Africa, a debt facility investing in early-stage digital lenders providing working capital to SMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa. The pilot focussed on rural/agritech and rural facing fintechs, and was incubated within Small Foundation. He has 20 years’ experience of working in agriculture, tech and investing. He has co-founded and worked in tech start-up ventures in Africa and has spent most of the last ten years focussed on increasing the availability of appropriate financing on the continent, particularly in agriculture, infrastructure and technology.
