Bame Pule is the Founder and CEO of Africa Lighthouse Capital (ALC), a private equity firm he launched in 2012. Under his leadership, ALC specialises in transforming African businesses into industry leaders by providing not only capital but also hands-on strategic guidance and operational support.

ALC takes a hands-on, partnership-driven approach to growth investing. The firm targets high-potential companies and works closely with management to develop and execute specific, high-impact value-creation plans. A key part of the strategy is localising ownership and leadership while injecting global standards of governance and operations.

The firm’s investments span critical sectors—insurance brokerage, pension fund administration, healthcare, consumer finance and related industries —with an emphasis on modernising operations and scaling into new regions. By raising operational standards and expanding companies into multiple markets, ALC’s goal is to cultivate enduring African champions.

Bame Pule’s career spans more than two decades of international finance and investment experience. He began working in 1998 and held roles at major institutions including Citigroup, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs in New York (focusing on financial services mergers, equity and debt capital raises). He later joined ShoreView Capital, a U.S. growth equity firm, and spent six years at Actis Capital (an emerging-markets private equity firm) before founding Africa Ligthouse Capital in 2012. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous boards of portfolio companies, partnering with management teams to implement targeted growth initiatives.

Mr. Pule holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science from Pomona College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a Kauffman Fellow and a Tutu Leadership Fellow, reflecting his commitment to developing African entrepreneurship and investment.
