Dr Eric SOUBEIGA is Partner, Private Equity at Enko Capital, a US$1.5 billion AuM Africa-focused asset management focused on fixed income, listed equity and private equity. He is responsible for deal origination, execution, portfolio management and fund raising / investor relations. He also leads the PE business in Southern Africa out of Johannesburg.
Prior to Enko Capital, Dr SOUBEIGA was Senior Investment Officer at IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group during 2011-2019. He was responsible for IFC’s investment in the health and education sectors across Sub-Saharan Africa based in Johannesburg. He also led major distressed investments for IFC out of Washington, DC focusing on projects in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Kenya, DRC and Mozambique. He also led IFC’s business in Tourism, Retail, Property, Health and Education in west and central Africa out of Dakar.
Prior to joining IFC in Johannesburg in 2011, Dr SOUBEIGA worked in finance between 2005 and 2011 in the City of London where he held roles in Consultancy and Transaction Advisory, Leveraged Finance and latterly Private Equity focusing on investing in UK and European companies in the IT, business services, healthcare, manufacturing, media and telecom sectors.
Dr SOUBEIGA is also an academic researcher and teacher by background. He held a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Nottingham (UK) where he was involved in academic research as well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research supervision. His area of expertise is Operations Research and Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence.
