Jan Martin Witte is Head of Asset Management at Cygnum Capital, a leader in African private credit that has deployed close to USD 2 billion across the continent since inception. Cygnum manages seven pan-African funds — six private credit funds and one venture capital fund — with assets of approximately USD 1.4 billion, spanning agriculture and natural capital, clean energy and energy access, and decarbonization.
Before joining Cygnum, Jan Martin spent 15 years at KfW Development Bank, recently as Director of the Global Equity and Funds department, overseeing an impact investment portfolio of roughly 60 funds and 25 financial institutions worth more than EUR 4 billion.
Before KfW, Jan Martin co-founded the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi) in Berlin as Associate Director. He holds a PhD and MA in international relations and economics from Johns Hopkins University's Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
