Jenni Chamberlain serves as Chief Executive Officer of Altree Capital Ltd. (“Altree Capital”) and Portfolio Manager for the Africa Opportunities Fund SAC Ltd and its segregated portfolio companies, as well as, the Founding Partner for the Altree Kadzi Gender Climate SPV. Jenni was named to the Africa Asset Management Power 50 in each of the two years consecutive years of the survey being placed in the top 10 in the second year. Jenni also managed the Altree Credit Fund SAC from May 2014 – September 2018. She is raising funding for the Altree Kadzi Gender Climate Fund, whilst currently investing via the Altree Kadzi Gender Climate SPV which invests with a gender-lens and climate-smart approach where technology can be used to scale in MSMEs in sub-Saharan Africa. Jenni was instrumental in building the firm’s ESG Management System, which she worked on in conjunction with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Jenni also worked with industry experts to develop the Firm’s Theory of Change for the Kadzi Gender Climate Fund covering both gender-lens investing (GLI) and Climate. Jenni is a member of the Firm’s Investment Committee, Global Credit & Counterparty Risk Committee, and the Audit & Compliance committees. Jenni also established offices and acquired the requisite operating licences and has grown the business in South Africa and Kenya.
Prior to her role at Altree Capital, Jenni served as Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Securities Africa Ltd, a pan-Africa brokerage and advisory firm that she founded in 2002. Before forming Securities Africa, Jenni Chamberlain served as Managing Director, EMEA Equities at HSBC in New York and London. Over the course of her career, Jenni served in numerous investment banking and corporate advisory roles across the African capital markets. Her experience includes research, corporate advisory, management accounting, equity derivative risk management, marketing, fund-raising, deal structuring, compliance and risk monitoring, as well as ESG & Impact. Jenni has worked on transactions in both the private and public sectors. She has brokered numerous deals on the majority of African Stock Exchanges and has an intimate knowledge of trading these markets, including regulatory/compliance controls, currency considerations, ESG, custody, administration and operational/back office issues.
