Fund Head, African Transition Acceleration Fund at African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM)

Lisa Pinsley joined AIIM in 2025 as the Fund Head of the African Transition Acceleration Fund (ATAF).

ATAF is AIIM’s newest pan-African investment vehicle, designed to support Africa’s energy transition. The fund focuses on early-stage investments across three core themes: clean electrons, clean molecules and sustainable transport. Supported by a unique blended finance approach, this innovative fund marks a significant step in addressing Africa’s energy transition finance deficit.

Lisa brings a wealth of experience to AIIM, with over 25 years of experience in emerging markets including 15+ years of leadership in renewable energy, sustainability and infrastructure investments across Africa and the Middle East. Prior to joining AIIM, Lisa was a Partner and Head of Middle East & Africa Energy at Actis, where she led a number of high-impact transactions. Lisa has also held senior positions at American Capital Energy & Infrastructure, Globeleq and AES. Prior to her energy career, Lisa spent five years working in the public sector in Afghanistan for the Afghan Finance Minister and for the UN.

Lisa holds an MBA with honours from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, an MA with honors in Literature from the University of Sussex and a BA cum laude in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Harvard University.
