INTRODUCTION AND CAREER HISTORY

Miguel Thames is a successful executive with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has expertise in developing new product territories and business expansion in both emerging and developed markets. He has held senior management positions in global business development and client management for a large financial service company, leading teams in the US, UK and Japan. In addition to his managerial expertise, Miguel has extensive technical capabilities in portfolio management, credit analysis, financial restructurings and workouts and business turnarounds. He has developed a strong global network of financial professionals, respected industry thought leaders and government officials and influencers. He has championed workforce diversity and continues to mentor many younger professionals. Miguel has earned a reputation for high integrity, motivating goal-oriented teamwork, and commitment to achieving results.

In January 2024 Miguel assumed the role of President & CEO of the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP), a 600-member professional organization established in 1985 and focused on inclusion in the financial services industry. In 2018 Miguel founded T.I.G. Advisory which provides advisory services to asset management firms and fund sponsors. Relationships in the US and Africa are the primary focus. Miguel spent over 25 years of his career in the investment management group of Prudential Financial (later named PGIM), working in several investment areas and functions before retiring in 2017. In 2015 he was given responsibility for leading business development in select countries in Latin America and Africa, on behalf of multiple asset class boutiques within PGIM. He established and maintained relationships with the 40 largest institutional asset investors in those regions. Prior to this, Miguel led global business development for PGIM Fixed income with responsibility for sales, client service and consultant relations teams in the UK, US, and Japan, with substantial input in product distribution and development. Miguel established the institutional consultant strategy at PGIM FI and built the channel into a global sales/marketing resource that generated substantial asset sales and new clients. During his 10yr tenure leading global business development, PGIM fixed income assets increased more than $500 billion

BOARD EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, ORGANIZATIONS, DESIGNATIONS

Miguel currently serves as a board member for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Foundation. He was a NASP board member until 2023 and was chair of their Program Committee and Africa Engagement Committee. Miguel previously served as a member, and as chairman, of the Investment Committee of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, a large labor union trade organization He was a director for a small auto technology start-up company, working closely with the CEO and team in an oversight capacity on product development, go to market strategy and fund raisingMiguel is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. Miguel earned his BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and his MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago.
