Roeland Donckers has over 20 years of hands-on experience creating and growing finance solutions in emerging markets. He started an impact investment company that built several SMEs in-house from the ground up in agro(-processing) and light manufacturing; he began a microfinance company from scratch with a unique rural credit methodology and successfully exited after 5 years; and he started and managed a TA business in parallel.

In 2016, Roeland co-founded iungo capital to address the financing gap for smaller SMEs in the East African missing middle. iungo capital is a sector agnostic mezz debt provider that offers (non-)financial support to SMEs seeking USD 50k-500k in a first round; local business angels are invited to co-invest on a deal by deal basis and share their networks and expertise. “iungo xl,” iungo’s in-house TA organization, provides necessary support not only post-investment but also pre-investment preparing the SMEs for due diligence and investment. Roeland holds an MBA from IE Business School, an MSc in Behavioral Science from LSE, and an MSc in International Relations from Ghent University.
