Profile
Rolf is the Head of Infrastructure Debt and oversees the investment process, strategic direction and operational running of the business. He has 22 years of relevant financial services, project finance and operational experience.
He joined Old Mutual Specialised Finance (OMSFIN) in 2013 to establish a dedicated project finance team, concluding many infrastructure transactions across South Africa and Africa. He was a member of the OMSFIN Exco and as Co-Head of Debt Origination, was responsible for overseeing all unlisted debt investments (including infrastructure debt). Rolf subsequently established Infrastructure Debt within Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI) at the start of 2022 and continues to drive strong investment selection and portfolio growth. He is a member of OMAI’s Exco. Prior to Old Mutual, he held senior roles at both Rand Merchant Bank and Absa Bank, structuring bespoke funding packages for large infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. Notably, Rolf acted as the coordinating lead arranger for the first ever concentrated solar power project concluded in South Africa and was lead arranger on the Bujagali Hydropower Project, one of the largest privately financed hydroelectric power projects in Africa.
Rolf holds a MSc (Civ) degree from the University of Stellenbosch and an MBA from Oxford University. He is also a CFA® Charterholder
