Tiny Mungwe is a cultural entrepreneur and creative sector strategist who has spent over a decade building infrastructure for African storytelling and creative economies. As founder of The People's Lottery, she is pioneering community-driven funding mechanisms that transform traditional arts financing through transparent, sustainable models.
Mungwe has produced over 36 films across 16 African countries, including the Generation Africa migration series and the feature documentary Womxn: Working. Her television work spans major productions including Muvhango and Uzalo. Beyond production, she has programmed four major international festivals - Time of the Writer, Durban International Film Festival, Jomba! Contemporary Dance Festival, and Poetry Africa - while curating film programs for industry platforms like Durban FilmMart.
As co-founder of Engage, a global knowledge initiative focused on African screen industries, Mungwe works at the intersection of creative development and industry infrastructure. She mentors across international programs including Hotdocs Blue Ice Fund, DFM Future Mentors, and Locarno Open Doors, and serves on selection team for Toronto International Film Festival.
Through Ehozini Retreat, her artist residency in KwaZulu-Natal, Mungwe develops talent support programs that connect African creatives with global opportunities while building local creative ecosystems. Her work demonstrates how strategic investment in creative infrastructure can generate both cultural impact and economic returns, positioning Africa's creative sectors as viable investment opportunities for private capital.
