Profile

Vuyo has been Co-Managing Director since 2020. He has more than two decades of investment experience and has been involved in private infrastructure investing in Africa since 2003.

In addition to the Co-Managing Director role, Vuyo is the Co-Portfolio Manager of the IDEAS Managed Fund, which primarily focuses on infrastructure investment in the SADC region. The Fund has an unmatched portfolio of infrastructure assets of various vintages in different sectors and has been a leading private investor in regional infrastructure.

Vuyo, who joined AIIM in 2003, has been involved in all aspects of the business's evolution from being a primarily South Africa focused fund manager to becoming a multi-office pan-African infrastructure investor. He played a key role in the implementation of several pioneering private infrastructure initiatives in various parts of the continent.

Vuyo serves on the boards of several industry associations, including being Chairperson of the Southern African Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SAVCA) and the sector development agency, GreenCape. Vuyo is a Director on the AIIM Board and is a member of the Executive Committee, while also serving as a member of the Investment Committees of all AIIM’s managed funds.

Prior to joining AIIM, Vuyo was an investment analyst and strategist at a South African asset management business.

Vuyo holds a B.Com Honours degree from the University of Cape Town, an M.Sc from the University of Oxford and MBA from IESE Business School. He has also completed Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program and is an African fellow of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
