Ms. Wairimu Karanja is a Partner at Persistent, Africa's Climate Venture Builder. She is based in Nairobi and manages the corporate, legal, ESG and compliance matters at Persistent. She also supports entrepreneurs with venture building. Wairimu has 15 years’ experience in investment, deal structuring, tax, regulatory and ESG advisory in climate finance, energy access and infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. Wairimu formerly worked with leading international law firms and is a former fellow of the Energy Charter Secretariat. She is a current Council Member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Institute of World Business Law, and Executive Committee Member of the Kenya Renewable Energy Association (KEREA). Off-duty, Wairimu is a nature lover, hiker, runner and bookworm. She loves anything with an African print.
