Thong Kin Wai joined HarbourVest in 2022 as Asia counsel. He focuses on fund formation, corporate governance, and general legal support for business and operational matters. Kin Wai joined the Firm from Bank of Singapore where he led the structuring and risk functions for the private markets and alternatives desk. Prior to that, he was the Asia regional head of structuring at Partners Group where his team was responsible for fund formation, mandate solutions and product development. His prior experience also includes a senior counsel role at Deutsche Bank (Hong Kong) where he supported the bank’s asset management and wealth management business divisions.
Kin Wai received an LL.B. from National University of Singapore, and a BSc in Banking and Finance from University of London (in association with London School of Economics and Political Science). Kin Wai is fluent in Mandarin and speaks conversational Cantonese.
