Dr. David Criekemans is Associate Professor in Geopolitics and International Relations at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) focusing on the geopolitics of energy (transition), security and technology. He also teaches at the Geneva Institute of Geopolitical Studies (Switzerland), University College Roosevelt in Middelburg (the Netherlands), and Blanquerna, Ramon Lull University in Barcelona (Spain). He is book series editor ‘Geopolitics and International Relations’ with The Gruyter Brill. In 2011, David Criekemans was among the very first to publish on the geopolitics of renewable energy and energy transition. Recent book chapters of on the topic: ‘Geopolitics of the renewable energy game and its potential impact upon global power relations’ in the book “Geopolitics of Renewables”, with Springer (2018) and ‘Geopolitics, geoeconomics, and energy security in an age of transition towards renewables’ in the “Handbook on the Geopolitics of the Energy Transition (Edgar Elgar Handbooks in Energy, the Environment and Climate Change, 2023).
