Profile

Jochen is a corporate strategy, policy and sustainability leader with over 25 years of professional track record. He is coordinating member of the Advisory Board of “Adapt Your World 2025”, a platform aiming to mobilize private investment in climate resilience and adaptation. In his roles as Senior Brandt Fellow at the University of Erfurt and as Faculty member of the Renewable Energy Management Program at St. Gallen University, he actively shares his vision and insights with students.

An environmental economist by education, Jochen builds on a wealth of industry experience gained during his long-term tenure as the Director of Corporate Strategy, Energy Policy & Sustainability for BayWa r.e. Group, a global renewable energy player, where he also served as permanent member of the investment committee of BayWa r.e. Energy Ventures. Jochen was an elected Board Member and served as Vice President of SolarPower Europe in Brussels from 2016-2024. In 2025 he was awarded the “Solar Visionary” award by the association for his contributions.

His prior career at the management consultancy Kearney in Berlin and Warsaw focused on energy, strategy and cost optimization. As Director Renewable Energy & Sustainability, Jochen was able to obtain a holistic view on the global energy sector and its transition from conventional to increasingly decarbonized business models.

Currently, Jochen dedicates most of his time to the resilience of the energy supply chain and its adaptation to climate change. He also works on the interface between renewable energy, regenerative agriculture and sustainable forestry to define investible business models within the food-water-energy nexus. Jochen acts as a seed investor in the GenerationRe and resist.vc investment syndicates to promote innovation in this area.
