Kathryn Wortsman is the Founder & Managing Partner of Amplify Capital, a Canadian-based venture fund focused on early-stage technology companies addressing climate sustainability, improved education, and better health. Amplify seeks to invest and support technologies that can create the best version of the future. Investing across North America, Amplify has delivered superior financial returns, following an impact-led investment thesis combining our deep industry insights, rigorous impact identification and proven track record of growth and value creation.
Kathryn has spent most of her 30 year career investing in and managing venture and private equity in New York and Toronto. Her former roles include senior positions at CIBC Capital, Constellation Ventures (a Bear Stearns-sponsored venture fund), and the corporate venture group at MetLife in New York. As the Founder of Social Venture Partners in Toronto in 2008, Kathryn was an early adopter of the venture philanthropy model in Canada’s largest city.
Today, Kathryn leads a team of seven across three funds and is active in a portfolio of 24 investments, holding a number of board positions including Lucid, Carbon Upcycling and Future Fields. Kathryn is also an active current Board member of the Canadian Club Toronto.
