Profile

Kyle Nicholas is the Vice President of Energy Systems at Westinghouse. Prior to joining Westinghouse, Mr. Nicholas served as the U.S. Energy Representative and Energy and Nuclear Security Attaché to the European Union and NATO, based in Brussels, Belgium. In this role, he was responsible for civil nuclear and nuclear security affairs, advancing U.S. energy interests, advocating on behalf of industry, and promoting deeper cooperation across the European Union and the United States in the fields of climate, energy and nuclear security, nonproliferation, and energy technology and basic sciences.

Mr. Nicholas previously served as a member of the leadership team and Chief of Staff at the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E) where he helped oversee and administer nearly a $1 billion energy technology research and development portfolio and helped launch the agency’s signature nuclear programs.

Previously, Mr. Nicholas served as the Department’s Senior Advisor for Energy Finance and sat on the Department’s Research and Technology Investment Committee, overseeing the Department’s budgetary and funding entities including the National Nuclear Security Administration and the Loan Programs Office.

Prior to joining the Department of Energy, Mr. Nicholas spent over a decade in energy and technology finance, most recently as a Board Member and Chief Financial and Operating Officer at a market-pioneering, technology company. He has investment experience across the energy sector including renewables, natural gas, utilities, infrastructure, and early-stage energy technology. He began his career in energy and renewables investment banking and advisory and went on to join Bloomberg New Energy Finance as an energy sector analyst.
