Munawer Shafi is Managing Director and Head of Alternative Credit Solutions where he leads the firm's asset-based finance strategy. Since entering the investment industry in 2005 and joining Aviva Investors in 2010, Munawer has built extensive expertise in originating and structuring across a wide range of asset-backed sectors. He is recognized for delivering superior risk-adjusted returns through a disciplined relative value approach and is highly skilled in cross-asset structuring and portfolio construction, ensuring optimal solutions within regulatory frameworks such as Solvency II and Net Zero.

Munawer plays a key leadership role as co-chair of Aviva Investors’ Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and serves as a permanent voting member of the Private Markets Global Investment Committee. His earlier career includes actuarial and analytical roles at Barclays Investment Bank, AXA, and Willis Towers Watson. Munawer holds a degree in Actuarial Science from Bayes Business School, a Master’s in Actuarial Finance from Imperial College London, and is a qualified actuary with additional certifications in derivatives and investment management
