Many of the businesses acquired during OpenGate’s pre-fund period as well as those done through the firm’s institutional funds, have been from large, global corporations such as Cineplex, TransDigm, Stanley Black & Decker, Saint-Gobain, Umicore, Axiall Corporation, Wolseley PlC, Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners, and many others throughout North America and Western Europe. Today, OpenGate has over $1.5 billion in assets under management and has completed more than 40 platform acquisitions across five continents in key Industrials subsectors including Chemicals & Materials, Packaging, Paper, & Specialty Materials, Metals, Building Products, Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Tech, Automotive, and Business & Industrial Services. In 2024, OpenGate formed a strategic partnership with Ownership Works, a program dedicated to creating economic opportunities for working families and where the mission includes advancing racial equity and promoting employee engagement while building more resilient and successful businesses. Prior to starting OpenGate, Mr. Nikou was a business development professional at Platinum Equity where he was instrumental in establishing that firm’s first European office in Paris. Mr. Nikou formed the Andrew Nikou Foundation which emphasizes innovative approaches to philanthropy by serving as a valuable resource for transformative ideas aimed at enhancing the lives of marginalized individuals. Mr. Nikou is also a Board member of YELLOW, a non-profit organization founded by Pharrell Williams to even the odds for all youth through education and was a member of the XPRIZE Foundation’s Innovation Board. Mr. Nikou holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California
