Dennis Smith is the Founder and Managing Partner of Evolution Equity Partners and is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s global activities and strategic direction.

Dennis founded Evolution in 2008 and leads investments in cybersecurity, enterprise software and data analytics and brings over four decades of investment, operational and entrepreneurial experience to his role. Dennis is a member of the firm’s investment committee.

Under his leadership, Evolution has become a premier venture capital firm raising over $ 2 Billion of capital to invest in category-defining software companies including: SecurityScorecard, Quantexa, Pentera, Carbon Black, Talon, Arctic Wolf, Aqua Security, AVG Technologies, OpenDNS and ProtectAI. Prior to establishing Evolution, Dennis held senior roles as managing director, head of marketing and sales, Vice President of solutions, head of systems and design and Vice President of business development in leading technology and software companies. He has participated at Senior Levels in taking Cybersecurity and Multi-Media software companies to Billion dollar IPO`s on the NYSE and Deutsche Borse. Dennis founded and led a technology consultancy focused on the diagnosis and remedying of underperforming IT environments in government, banking, finance, manufacturing, and public utilities, which he exited to PWC. Dennis is a founding investor in NejTV and Sixty-K where held various executive and non-executive roles.
