Derrick Tang was appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom to lead the State of California’s first venture program for underrepresented fund managers and entrepreneurs. Prior to his appointment, Derrick led the climate investments practice at the Bay Area Air District and launched the agency's first loan program. His earlier experience includes launching an early-stage grant program for climate entrepreneurs, evaluating investments at a venture capital fund-of-funds, and developing novel carbon capture technologies. Derrick has a degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University.
