Richard is a 20-year VC veteran and is Founder/Managing Partner at late-stage VC firm Medici Capital Partners. Medici invests in growth/pre-IPO financings in the Internet, media, sports, and gaming spaces and focuses on profitable B2C and B2B2C companies with established product/market fit. Medici portfolio companies include Bombas, NerdWallet, and Turo. Medici is based in San Francisco and was founded in 2018.
Prior to Medici, Richard was Managing Director at Saban Capital Group, where he led tech/Internet investing on behalf of media billionaire Haim Saban. Richard advised Saban portfolio companies including Univision and Saban Brands (acquired by Hasbro) on digital strategy and M&A. Richard began his career at D. E. Shaw & Co., where he held senior operating roles as an early member of the firm's Internet incubator in Boston and the Silicon Valley.
Richard earned a BS in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science from UC Berkeley and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, both with high honors. Richard is a Kauffman Fellow.
