Steve Hale is a Partner at Convoi Ventures, an industry-agnostic pre-seed fund rooted in Utah’s startup ecosystem backing freak founders (learning animals) across native AI, hard tech, energy, fintech, consumer (tech & CPG), marketplaces, and life sciences.

Steve is particularly drawn to founders tackling “wicked problems” — capital-intensive, deeply technical challenges where success bends an entire industry, is nearly impossible and manifestly important to such a degree that it often attracts non-dilutive government support.

Before Convoi, Steve spent seven years on the founding team of Album VC helping take the top-decile firm to $450M in committed capital across six funds. He has personally invested in over 30 startups, including early positions in Angel Studios, Graza, Olipop, Rorra, and Torus.
