Dr. Steven Waterhouse is the Founder and General Partner of Nazaré Ventures, an early stage Venture Fund focused on AI. His career has spanned academia, startups and venture capital from Cambridge (PhD AI 1997) to San Francisco, where he founded multiple successful companies and now Europe. In the early 2000s Waterhouse developed distributed enterprise storage solutions at Sun Microsystems before co-founding RPX, a patent services firm which went public after 3 years (RPXC). He pioneered investing in web3, first as a Partner at Pantera Capital in 2013 and then as a Venture Partner at Fabric Ventures. In 2017 he also co-founded Orchid Labs where he was CEO. Steven is a staunch defender of personal privacy as a basic right, and is also an avid waterman who loves the cold waters of the Pacific and Atlantic west coasts.
