Since my articles and a short period of being an audit manager I entered the private sector as a financial manager where my role slowly evolved into a specialised tax role at DRA Global in 2010 (DRA Global is a mining engineering company that is listed on ASX and JSE). I served various roles there before I became the Head of Tax for the EMEA region prior to me joining Barrick in 2021. I have gained over 12 years of tax experience in corporate tax, dispute resolution, VAT, payroll and expat taxes, transfer pricing and other international tax matters. I enjoy tax structuring and setting up tax strategies, policies, and processes to manage risk but also to ensure tax is planned at the appropriate times to ensure efficiencies and minimise tax leakages.
