Keitumetse Sesana is the Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the South African Institute of Taxation (SAIT) and a Chartered Tax Adviser, the highest professional tax designation in South Africa.
Keitumetse is a seasoned Tax Technical specialist, with deep expertise in tax legislative policy engagement. Keitumetse leads strategic initiatives that shape and refine South Africa’s tax legislative framework. She plays a pivotal role in managing stakeholder relations on behalf of the organisation, driving collaboration with key institutions including Parliament of South Africa, National Treasury, SARS and the Office of the Tax Ombud, amongst others.
Building on her experience in International Tax and Transfer Pricing gained at one of the Big Four firms, Keitumetse worked in teams that advised multinationals across a wide range of industries, providing strategic guidance on complex tax structuring and compliance matters. She now provides strategic oversight to SAIT’s Tax Technical and SARS Regional Workgroups, steering cross-functional collaboration to develop and submit high-impact policy proposals that influence legislative reform and support effective operational engagement with SARS.
Keitumetse also curates and delivers CPD content through webinars and large-scale seminars and plays a significant role in shaping SAIT’s public-facing technical commentary. She regularly inter alia represents SAIT on national radio and television, translating complex tax issues into clear, accessible insights for both practitioners and the broader public. Her thought leadership spans a wide range of pressing tax matters — from transfer pricing and international taxation to the complexities of VAT in a digital economy and other areas of taxation.
She has represented SAIT at various international dialogues and is widely respected for her ability to bridge technical depth with broader social purpose. Keitumetse is driven by a powerful personal mission: to make tax human. She leverages her expertise and platform to spark reform, champion fairness, and contribute meaningfully to the broader tax ecosystem.
