Prof. Thabo Legwaila is a Professor of Law at the University of the Witwatersrand and a Chartered Tax Advisor.
Prof. Thabo Legwaila holds the following qualifications: B Iuris (Venda); LLB (Wits); LLM (Wits); PG Dip Tax Law (UCT); LLM (UCT) and LLD (Pretoria). In his career, Legwaila held various positions including Senior Lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch; Research Fellow at the Harvard University International Tax Program; Senior Tax Consultant at KPMG and EY; Director of Business Tax at the South African National Treasury; Extraordinary Lecturer at the University of Pretoria; Head of Tax for the Africa Division at Citibank; Professor of Tax Law at the University of Johannesburg; Member of the Davis Tax Committee (DTC); Chief Executive Officer of the Office of the Tax Ombud.
Prof Legwaila is the editor of the tax textbook Tax Law: An Introduction and is co-author of the seventh edition of Nagel’s Commercial Law textbook. He also authored over 40 accredited journal articles as well as multiple other publications.
