Profile

Karishma is an expert in the field of Transfer pricing and litigation/controversy management and has around two decades of professional work experience. She leads the tax controversy management practice of Deloitte India. Being a lawyer and chartered accountant she has has advised a large number of renowned multinational/ Indian companies in structuring/ planning intra–company transfer prices and assisted them in their transfer pricing compliance and dispute resolution. In addition to corporates in India, she has worked on global transfer pricing requirements. She has been on working stints in US, UK, Germany and other countries in APAC. In her previous role she lead the transfer pricing practice of BMR. Prior to joining BMR, she was leading the transfer pricing litigation practice of KPMG for 3 years. Prior to that has worked with Grant Thornton for around ten years leading their TP practice and in PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for around five years being part of the Transfer Pricing practice since its inception. Apart from Transfer Pricing her exposure includes Tax and Regulatory advisory & compliances. She has also worked in the Corporate Finance division of an international Investment bank for a year.

She was voted amongst the top ten TP advisors in India by International Tax Review. Recently she also figures in the tax controversy leaders and women tax leaders list published by ITR.

Karishma focuses on complex TP audit and defense including representation before the then income-tax tribunal and handling APA projects as well. Her focus industries are Technology, Life-sciences and financial services.

She is an executive member of the European Business group, Western chapter of IFA, ICAI international taxation committee and Chambers of tax consultants. Karishma has addressed numerous such seminars in India and overseas, including she represented India on the plenary panel of the Global IFA Congress in London in 2019. She has also written numerous articles and papers for the International Tax Review, BNA, Tax Analyst, Outsourcing, economic times, hindu business line, bloomberg, etc
