Theresa Kolish is a managing director in our Washington National Tax, Tax Controversy and Dispute Resolution Services group. Based in the San Francisco office, Theresa helps clients manage and resolve transfer pricing disputes and respond to the challenges that come with transfer pricing controversies, whether related to intercompany pricing between countries or between U.S. states. Theresa serves our banking and finance and technology clients.
Theresa has more than 15 years of experience with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as tax attorney with extensive knowledge in complex legal, economic, and treaty issues in transfer pricing. Before joining KPMG, she served as a team leader and Competent Authority analyst for the IRS Advance Pricing and Mutual Agreement (APMA) program, which provides her with unique experience with advance[KM1] pricing agreements in several sectors including automotive, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and high technology. During her tenure at APMA, Theresa negotiated APAs with the governments of Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Netherlands.
Theresa was also an attorney advisor in the Office of Chief Counsel Corporate where she worked on technical corporate tax issues related to corporate reorganizations, spin-off transactions, debt equity, and consolidated return issues.
Prior to joining the IRS, Theresa was an associate and then partner in a law firm, where she advised clients on an array of tax issues.
