Gatehouse Chambers’ members have a wealth of experience in Private Client matters whether contentious or non-contentious. Areas of expertise include trusts, probate, social welfare and benefits, community care, Court of Protection and all related professional negligence issues. Gatehouse Chambers also handle insolvency issues (eg in relation to insolvent estates or trusts).

Members have appeared in some of the leading authorities in private client disputes including Ilott v Mitson [2017] UKSC 17 which was the first case under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 to reach the Supreme Court and King v Dubrey [2015] EWCA Civ 581, a leading decision which set out the requirements for a donatio mortis causa.

At Gatehouse Chambers, the team is committed to achieving a cost-effective and practical solution to clients’ problems whether that be inside or outside of court and our members have wide-ranging experience in all aspects of alternative dispute resolution.
