Success stories from the World Cup keep coming from the U.S. destinations that hosted the world’s largest soccer event. Philadelphia announced strong revenue results for the city’s hotel industry resulting from the six matches it hosted between June 14 and July 4.

Center City hotels saw an increase in revenue, among other key performance metrics as compared to the same dates in 2025, according to the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau. Key metrics recorded by Tourism Economics included:

  • Revenue: +50.3%
  • Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR): +52.4%
  • Average Daily Rate: +47.5%

One match in particular—Brazil vs. Haiti on June 19—delivered a standout economic win, as Center City hotels reached 93.5% occupancy, generating more than $6.2 million in economic impact.

The impact was felt beyond downtown, too. FIFA reported more than 400,000 fans from 190 countries attended six matches at Philadelphia Stadium, while an estimated 250,000 visitors attended the FIFA Fan Festival™ at Lemon Hill.

The closest comparison of the same sort of impact is Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stop at Lincoln Financial Field in May 2023, which also topped $6 million in hotel revenue, according to Tourism Economics.

City tourism leaders not only revel in the immediate boost in international visitors, but consider the large crowds a chance to sell Philadelphia for future vacations and events.

“Philadelphia thrives when our city, business community, and hospitality industry come together to welcome the world and showcase all that our city has to offer,” said Gregg Caren, president and CEO of the PHLCVB. “We anticipate the FIFA World Cup will inspire not only future international travel to the city but serve as a shining example of how we can successfully execute major global events, drawing key future business to Philadelphia.”
