60 Seconds With... Singularity University's Mike Halsall

We all know what they are experts on, but we want to know what makes our speakers tick. In this series, we sit down with some of our key speakers for 60 seconds to find out a bit more about them before they take to the stage at FundForum International in Berlin, 6-8 June 2016.
60 Seconds with...
Mike Halsall, UK Ambassador, Singularity University
1. What is your personal philosophy?
My personal philosophy is that we should strive to leave the world in a better state compared to when we 'found' it, i.e. when we became conscious. Throughout our lives we are faced with personal challenges, and are informed of the more general challenges facing humanity and all life on earth. If we strive to improve our planet, each in our own way, that must be a good thing.
2. If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Definitely President (or the equivalent), of any country.
3. Disruption is always on the tip of everyone’s tongue. In your opinion, what is going to be the ultimate game-changer for the finance industry?
Artificial intelligence will replace most of the tasks currently done by people, and in my view this will significantly de-financialise the finance industry. The positive aspect is that economies will be far better managed in the future.
4. What's your favourite thing about Berlin?
I worked in Berlin a few years ago, in real estate development. It's a fascinating city, my favourite thing is watching East and West reintegrate, and in doing so going through some extreme phases, such as the art district in the East.
5. What are you most looking forward to at Fund Forum 2016?
I'm looking forward to meeting people, Fund Forum attracts the best.
Mike Halsall will be appearing in the Investment Trends and Talent Pavilion at FundForum International, taking place in Berlin, 6-8 June 2016.
