Alain Deschenes obtained a bachelor's degree in Chemistry Honours and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick. Under the supervision of Dr. Kay Wiese at Simon Fraser University, he obtained a Master's degree while working on a novel approach to predict the folding of RNA structures using genetic algorithms. He joined Chemical Computing Group in 2005 in Montreal as an Applications Scientist before becoming Director of scientific services. He currently serves as Vice President. His research interests include computer-aided drug discovery for small molecule and biologic therapeutics.
