Dr. Ansgar Schönborn is Head of M&A Legal, Corporate and Antitrust at Axel Springer, a transatlantic media company operating in more than 25 countries. Next to its media brands, including BILD, BUSINESS INSIDER, MORNING BREW, POLITICO, and WELT, Axel Springer’s portfolio also includes the marketing companies Awin, Bonial, and Idealo, as well as the digital market research institute Emarketer.

Ansgar is responsible for all M&A, corporate and antitrust issues across the Axel Springer group and is based in Berlin. Regarding antitrust, he focuses on the media sector and digital markets.

Prior to joining Axel Springer, he was Director Legal at Zalando, responsible for the global legal function of the Zalando group, and a lawyer at Freshfields in Berlin and Dusseldorf. He studied law in Berlin and London and regularly holds lectures on antitrust and regulatory topics at Freie Universität Berlin.
