Head of Unit, Mergers Case Support and Policy at European Commission

Julia is Head of Unit at European Commission, Directorate General for Competition, Unit A-2 Merger case support and policy. She has been working at DG COMP in various roles, including that of Assistant to the Director General, Human Resources Correspondent and Head of Communications Policy since 2007. Prior to joining DG COMP, she was a lawyer with De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek. She is a fully qualified Dutch and German lawyer. She specialises in EU and Dutch competition law, including mergers, co-operation agreements, cartel investigations and alleged abuses of dominant positions. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she received a Master’s degree in European Community law (LL.M.) from the College of Europe in Bruges.
