Mathew Heim is a Senior Fellow at the George Washington Competition & Innovation Lab focusing on international competition policy. He also advises clients on the politics of law, notably competition and regulatory matters. Previously, Mathew spent nearly 15 years in-house, as Vice President and Counsel at Qualcomm in Europe and later as Head of International Competition Policy at Amazon, Seattle. Before his time in-house, Mathew spent over a decade as a consultant advising clients on competition enforcement, litigation, crisis management and political risk. He has advised clients in sectors such as diverse as online retail, consumer goods, audiovisual content, software, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, soft drinks, shipbuilding, raw materials and bananas. Mathew is currently a senior advisor to BIAC’s Competition Committee to the OECD, International Competition Network Non-Governmental Adviser to the UK Competition and Market’s Authority and Co-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce Task Force Competition Law and the Digital Economy. He studied at the universities of Bristol and Exeter before being called to the Bar of England and Wales. He speaks English, French, German and Spanish.
