Gene Burrus is founder of Burrus Competition Strategies and Global Policy Counsel for the Coalition for App Fairness. Gene has been working at the forefront of competition issues surrounding dominant digital platforms for the last 25 years. He spent 15 years at Microsoft where he managed antitrust counseling for the Windows product group, compliance with the various competition law orders and decrees in place in the early 2000s and led efforts to apply competition laws to Microsoft's competitors. He also served as Global Director of Competition Policy for Spotify and currently helps a variety of clients manage challenges with dominant digital platforms.Gene is based in Seattle, but travels the world for his advocacy work. Gene is a graduate of the University of Virginia law school, and has a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering From the University of Oklahoma.
