Rijk Zwaan is a vegetable breeding company ranked 5th in the worldwide market of vegetable seeds with more than 1000 varieties of assortment in over 25 different vegetables crops namely; sweet pepper, tomatoes, Aubergines, lettuce, cucumber, carrot, melons amongst others.

Established in 1924 as a seed shop in Rotterdam, it is now located in De Lier, the Netherlands with more than 30 subsidiaries where sales , R&D and seed production are carried out. This activity places the company at the start of the food chain.

To meet specific needs for Africa, a breeding and commercial activities of African vegetables have been established in Tanzania.
