Anselm is VP Legal and Policy at Video Games Europe, representing 19 European and international video game companies and 13 national trade associations. Prior to this, he has been focusing on a variety of legal issues in the digital sector in different positions: as Head of Antitrust and Distribution Law at Zalando, the European platform for fashion, he built up and led their inhouse team for these areas; as a lawyer in the Brussels office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, he mainly advised telecoms, platforms and tech companies; and as a Legal and Policy Officer with the European Commission (DG CONNECT) he helped developing the Commission’s Digital Single Market strategy. Anselm holds a PhD in media competition law from the University of Muenster (Germany) and a master degree from the University of Oxford. He is also the author of a (non-legal) sci-fi novel set in a digital society where AI assistants play an important role.
