Hans is an experienced partner in Akin’s lobbying & public policy group and co-leader of the firm’s artificial intelligence practice. He provides comprehensive advice on legislative, regulatory and administrative policy matters across sectors, including technology, energy & infrastructure, national security, health care & life sciences and aviation, space & defense.

Hans represents clients through every stage of lobbying & public policy processes, drawing on his strong background advising on and navigating complex legislative, regulatory and administrative policy matters. For over 20 years and through several successive administrations, election cycles and changes in party leadership, Hans has leveraged his government relations experience to advocate on behalf of client interests.

In that time frame, Hans has successfully represented Fortune 100 companies, associations, not-for-profit organizations and foreign sovereign governments in developing and implementing strategies to enhance their relationships and advocate their policy objectives before the legislative and executive branches of the United States government. Hans regularly works with the current Administration and Majorities in the Senate and House to forward client objectives.

Leveraging his technical experience and extensive network, Hans has a cutting-edge practice advising on current policy issues, such as AI & machine learning (ML), quantum computing and other emerging technologies, clean energy, health care, government funding, privacy and data security, national security, defense and the federal agency decision-making process. Hans previously served as a senior principal and general counsel at a global business advisory firm and in government.
