John Bowman joined IBM's Office of Privacy and Responsible Technology (OPRT) in October 2022 as AI Ethics Market Strategy Lead. His role includes advising on enhancements to support regulatory compliance and commercialisation of select IBM OPRT assets. Previously, John was a Senior Principal in IBM Promontory advising clients on a range of privacy, data protection and AI ethics issues. Before that John worked at the UK Ministry of Justice where he was Head of EU and International Data Protection Policy. In that role, he was the UK government's lead negotiator on the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
