Paul-John Loewenthal leads the unit for AI regulation and compliance at the EU’s AI Office, which is responsible for the implementation of the AI Act and the enforcement of its rules in relation to AI systems and GPAI models without systemic risk. Prior to joining the AI Office, Mr. Loewenthal was a Member of the Legal Service, in which capacity he represented the Commission in over 350 cases before EU and national courts, including on numerous digital files, such as the AI Act, the DSA, and the DMA. Mr. Loewenthal previously worked as a referendaire at the EU Court of Justice and as a lawyer at an international law firm.
