Dr. Matthew Hardy
Associate Director, Recombinant Proteins, CSL Research at CSL, Australia
Speaker

Profile

Matthew Hardy, PhD, is an Associate Director within the Lead Discovery and Protein Engineering team within CSL Research, based at CSL Melbourne, Australia. Matthew completed his PhD at Monash University working on interferon receptor biology and is the winner of the Nairn medal for Immunology. There, he discovered and characterized a novel interferon, interferon epsilon. Following his PhD, Matthew moved to the laboratory of Professor Luke O’Neill at Trinity College, Dublin, where he investigated aspects of Toll-like receptor signalling, then returned to Australia and joined the Recombinant Proteins group at CSL. Matthew leads a team of scientists responsible for generating a wide array of recombinant proteins to enable progression of pipeline projects and has developed a strong background in complement biology, with one of his therapeutic candidates CSL040 (a complement receptor 1 fragment), recently completing Phase 1 clinical trials.
