Yan Gao is a General Attorney within the Mergers I Division of the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Competition. In that role, Yan reviews proposed mergers and acquisitions in various industries, including pharmaceutical, medical device, aerospace, technology, and defense sectors. Throughout his ten years at the FTC, Yan has spearheaded numerous investigations and served on multiple trial teams, including the trial team that successfully challenged IQVIA Holding’s acquisition of Propel Media. Most recently, Yan served as lead attorney in the FTC’s first merger challenge of the new administration, in which the FTC sought a preliminary injunction against the proposed merger of GTCR and Surmodics.
