Trained in both Europe and the U.S., Daniel Bitton advises and represents clients in antitrust litigation, government investigations and mergers and acquisitions, often across many different jurisdictions. Since joining Axinn in 2004, Daniel has built an extensive and global antitrust practice, acting as antitrust counsel to Fortune 500 clients such as McKesson, Dell, Google, Johnson Controls, the Danfoss Group and Thermo Fisher in high-stakes matters.
Daniel led the global antitrust clearance efforts for Johnson Controls in its US$2 billion sale of its Scott Safety business to 3M. He is regular antitrust counsel to McKesson and recently led the efforts to secure clearance from the U.S. Department of Justice for McKesson’s US$3.4 billion healthcare technology joint venture with Change Healthcare, and from the FTC in a variety of other acquisitions by McKesson. Since 2010, Daniel has also been regular antitrust counsel to Google, both in deals and conduct investigations, including its $700 million acquisition of ITA Software and $2.35 billion sale of Motorola Home.
Daniel also has significant litigation experience. He has represented numerous clients, including recently three companies of the Danfoss Group, in antitrust cases and class actions in Federal Court, as well as government antitrust investigations, such as FTC Section 5 investigations.
Daniel has used his antitrust expertise and litigation skills to the benefit of the firm’s pro bono clients and the American Bar Association.
Daniel is regularly quoted by influential business and legal publications. He also regularly publishes and speaks on international antitrust matters, both in English and Dutch. Daniel has spoken and written extensively on Chinese antitrust law and policy.
In 2016, Daniel was nominated for a prestigious Concurrences Antitrust Writing Award for the article, “Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle, Extraterritoriality and Comity” (The Sedona Conference Journal, 2015, co-authored with John Briggs).
