Erik is an Assistant Director in the FTC’s Bureau of Competition with responsibility for managing the American Competition Enforcement Division (ACE), the Bureau’s newest division. ACE builds proudly on the Bureau’s century-long history of exceptional competition work in its regional offices. ACE’s portfolio spans the full breadth of the Bureau’s priorities, including investigating and litigating both conduct and merger matters. It also has a mandate to focus on state attorney general cooperation. As a nationally integrated division with “boots on the ground” across the United States, ACE enables the Bureau to expand the authority and capacity of its regional offices and stay closely connected to local issues, while simultaneously augmenting state law enforcement capacity.
Erik is based in San Francisco. After graduating from New York University School of Law, Erik started his career at Davis Polk & Wardwell in Washington, DC. In 2019, he joined the FTC’s Mergers II Division. In 2024, Erik transferred to the FTC’s San Francisco office. In December 2024, Erik was appointed Assistant Regional Director. And in November 2025, he was appointed Assistant Director of ACE. Erik also serves as a JAG Attorney in the Army Reserve.
