Hanna Steinbach serves as Medallia's EVP & Chief Legal Officer where she leads the global legal and compliance functions. At Medallia, Hanna helped scale Medallia's legal team from a start-up environment through the company's IPO and beyond. Prior to joining Medallia in 2015, Hanna gained experience at international law firms in Austria, Germany and the US focusing on a broad range of legal areas, including antitrust law, privacy, regulatory and technology transactions. She was involved in several of the first leniency cases filed with the Austrian competition authority. She holds a research degree in antitrust law and wrote a thesis concentrating on the convergence of antitrust and public procurement law, earning her a research scholarship from the University of Vienna. Hanna also worked at WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), a specialized agency of the United Nations, as a direct appointee by the German government. During her time at WIPO, Hanna focused on the intersection between IP and competition law and participated in meetings at the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to develop guidelines on standard essential patents for standard setting organizations. Hanna holds law degrees from the University of Vienna, Stockholm University and UC Berkeley School of Law.
