Michael J. Lawrence is Senior Competition Counsel at Google LLC. Michael primarily focuses on engaging with competition authorities in the Americas and providing competition counseling to business units. He has handled significant competition matters for Google in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America. He also serves as the company's lead lawyer for IP-antitrust counseling.
Before joining Google in 2011, Michael was a competition attorney at Intel Corporation for six years. Michael began his legal career as an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP, where he focused on intellectual property and antitrust litigation.
Michael has taught IP law as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School and Santa Clara University Law School. He served as Associate Editor of Antitrust Magazine and as Editor of Intellectual Property and Antitrust Handbook (2nd Edition). He sits on the Advisory Counsel for USC Gould School of Law’s Center for Transnational Law and Business.
Michael earned his B.A. from UCLA and his J.D. from Georgetown University.
